Besan Ki Roti Recipe
Besan Ki Roti use to be an outstanding dish to most of the Indian dishes. Learn how to make them with my step-by-step recipe. Do not be deceived by the number of steps, because to do one Besan Ki Roti from beginning to end, takes from 1 to 2 minutes maximum! Let’s start.

Besan Ki Roti Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup Whole milk flour
- 1 cup Bengal coarse meal / Besan
- 1 cup All purpose flour
- Water / yougurt / milk For preparing dough
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
Instructions
- Place your flour and salt in a deep bowl. Mix well to mix them all together. Cut out 5-6 tablespoons and keep to another side in the plate when you roll out the Rotis.
- Make a well in the center of the flour in your bowl. Pour some water into the well and start mixing flour into it. Move slowly with water and add it only as needed. The idea is to soak the flour only enough to make it start to bind together into the dough. When the dough begins to come together, knead slowly to dislodge the pieces.
- Adding oil is not necessary at this stage, but I found that this results in a very smooth dough and a soft Besan Ki Rotis.
- The finished dough should be smooth and medium to soft in consistency. After that, cover and set aside for 10-15 minutes to rest.
- Split the dough into roughly 18–20 equal pieces, about the dimension of a golf ball.
- Ride between the palms, applying gentle pressure, until the balls are smooth and without cracks. Do as much as you need and be ready for deployment.
- Lightly torment the smooth, clean, and dry surface using that portion of the flour that you left aside before. Put one ball in this flour. This will prevent the ball from sticking to the rolling surface.
- Smooth the dough ball with your fingers to prepare it for the roll! Roll in a circular motion until you have a 4 "circle.
- Lightly cover the both side circle for preventing the dough to stick when you will roll the Roti.
- Heat the saucepan over medium heat and place the unrolled Besan Ki Roti on it to cook.
- Now the Besan Ki Roti is prepared for the first coup when you start to see elevated bumps on its surface. Make use of the spatula for turning it on the other side. The side that was pointing down (and now up) will have light brown spots all over.
- Keep checking the other side and make a second click if it looks like the first side.
- Wait 10 seconds (approximately) after the second inversion, and then use the folded kitchen towel to gently press Besan Ki Roti around the edges. It will make him gasp!
- Once puffed up, Besan Ki-Roti is made! Now you can remove it from the pan and serve immediately or stored in a container. The steam that caused the Besan Ki Roti balloon will be released shortly after it is removed from the fire, so line up the container with a kitchen towel so that Besan Ki Roti is warm, soft and free from moisture.
- Start with the following and continue until you have exhausted all the dough!
Notes
Eat Besan Ki Rotis hot and decorated with a small doll ghee, if you eat them yourself! Serve with curry, or daal for a great meal!
