Dry Fruit Laddu Recipe

Laddu is an Indian dessert made from dried fruits, nuts, coconut and sesame seeds. This Indian dessert is not only tasty, but also useful. Indian sweets Laddu traditionally prepared from chickpea flour. But you can make an easy to prepare, sweet, healthy and tasty dessert (as an option laddu) from dried fruits, nuts and sesame, with coconut chips.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Dates finely choped or twisted
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup Raw Nuts Soaked overnight and chopped
  • 1/2 cup Raisin
  • 1/2 cup Sesame Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 2 tbsp Coconut oil / Butter / Ghee
  • 1 pinch Pink Himalayan / Sea Salt

Instructions
 

  • Heat the frying pan and fry sesame seeds on it until golden brown. It takes a couple of minutes, be careful not to burn them. We spread in a deep plate and set aside.
  • Heat the coconut oil / butter / ghee in the same pan and lightly fry the nuts, grated coconut and raisins. About 3 minutes. Put the mixture in a deep bowl. We set aside.
  • Put the dates on the same pan and, stirring often, fry for about 5 minutes. Add to the nut-coconut-raisin mixture.
  • Add salt and honey and mix well until smooth.
  • Let it cool for a couple of minutes so that it does not burn when you touch the mixture with your hands.
  • Taking a small amount of the mixture, we form a small ball in the palms and roll it in sesame seeds.
  • We store our Ladda in a tightly closed container.

Notes

  • Nuts can be used any, I usually make from almonds, walnuts and cashews.
  • Soak raw nuts should be in hot water with 1 tsp. salt for 12-24 hours. Then the nuts need to be peeled from the skin (if the almonds), spread out on parchment paper and put in a closed, turned off oven for 24 hours to dry.
  • Coconut can be excluded from the recipe.
  • Instead of sesame seeds, you can use coconut, cocoa or chopped nuts.
  • For a more Indian flavor, I add a pinch of green cardamom.
